WHO IS JEANNE KELLY?
I’m Jeanne Kelly, founder of The Kelly Group. I’m your go-to coach when it comes to all things credit–credit score, credit health and mastering the credit game. Our mission at the Kelly Group is to spread the message far and wide of why having healthy credit is so important.
Since credit is hardly ever talked about (when it is it’s either a snoozefest or not put in layman’s terms!) we’re here to bring credit front-of-mind with accessible information and resources that are easy to comprehend. And even better than that, we’re passionate about cultivating a close-knit community to support.
We want to see our clients and consumers win at the credit game. This allows them to receive the abundance of opportunities it opens for them!
It didn’t exactly start this way though…
At the age of 21, I got married. I had my daughter, Cassandra, at 25. By 26, I was separated. It just didn’t work out. I went from being a newly married woman living in a new home, to being a single mom living with my parents in a tiny cottage on their farm.
It was in that moment I quickly realized how much credit played a part in finding new opportunities.
As I went to find my own place, I only found rejection. Things I didn’t realize would affect my credit like paying my car loan late, breaking an unreasonable cell phone contract, even a missed $10 copay at a doctor’s office, went on my credit as a collection. When I looked for help, nobody was doing what I needed to fix it.
Luckily, my parents let me stay with them and helped me with my daughter. I waitressed at night and would be up with Cassandra all day. Once I figured out a way to fix my credit, I thought “If I could do this for me, I could do it for other people.”
I quit waitressing to give it my all.
I started from the ground up….literally.
So I got to work right there in the basement.
This was before social media and Google, so finding clients looked a lot different. I tirelessly went through the Yellow Pages and cold-called mortgage brokers. When I got that first paycheck, I only had $125 in my bank account.
But I didn’t give up, I had a big vision to fulfill!
“I can help you close more loans. I can help the clients with credit issues, and you can keep them in the pipeline.” I continued with my script. Finally, to my surprise, a man named Mike Daversa answered my call by accident and let me give him my full pitch. It turned out he had a client who needed my help.
And that’s when the Kelly Group was officially in business!
From the basement to The Today Show.
One thing led to another and the next thing I knew The Today Show was calling me to be on the show as a credit expert! This was a big break.
From here, I was invited onto other popular platforms like CNN, The Breakfast Club, iHeart Radio, Huffington Post, The New York Times, Credit.com, Success Magazine, Fox News, Experian , FICO, and Yahoo. I even went on to publish two books of my own, The 90 Day Credit Challenge and The Credit Makeover.
Being featured and contributing to various platforms has been incredibly expansive for The Kelly Group. It’s allowed me to share my story with a larger audience and has connected us with lots of people who are eager to support, get involved, and grow the business.
Today we’re a multi-million dollar company proudly serving thousands of people, helping them avoid common credit crises and most importantly, live their best lives at their fullest credit potential!
